It’s pretty common for most teams to do this with a number of players on their roster but whenever a big name is a part of this process, it makes headlines.

The Toronto Blue Jays have placed outfielder Jose Bautista on revocable trade waivers, per Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal.

Bautista, 36, has a no trade clause and a mutual $18 million option for 2018 and a $20 million vested option for 2019 remaining on his contract, per Spotrac.

Bautista has declined sharply this season posting a .216 batting average with 16 home runs and 45 RBI this season for Toronto.

It’s unlikely that a team will offer much for Bautista who seems to be staying in Toronto for the future.
