The Chicago White Sox have placed left-handed pitcher Derek Holland on release waivers, sending the veteran to the market.
Holland is expected to clear waivers and at that point will be able to hit the open market.
The remainder of Holland’s $6M annual salary would remain on the White Sox’s tab.
Holland has had a poor season, posting a horrid 6.20 ERA over 135 innings while giving up 31 homeruns.
Chicago also announced that Yoan Moncada has been activated from the DL and that they had purchased the contract of lefty Jace Fry.
