Rockies Closer Greg Holland To Opt Out, Become Free Agent

Colorado Rockies closer Greg Holland is choosing to bet on himself on the free agency market.

Holland will not exercise his $15 million player option and instead become a free agent, according to FanRag Sports’ Jon Heyman.

Holland is represented by agent Scott Boras and according to Heyman’s report execs believed Mark Melancon’s $62 million, four-year deal could be the market for Holland.

Holland led the National League with 58 games, 41 saves and a 3.61 ERA after missing 2016 following Tommy John surgery.
