White Sox Make “Strong Bid” For Orioles Manny Machado

The Baltimore Orioles have a strong offer on the table from the Chicago White Sox for thrid baseman Manny Machado, according to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale.

The White Sox have reportedly been “the most aggressive suitor” for the Orioles superstar third baseman, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal.

Despite Chicago’s offer and Baltimore’s willingness to move Machado, there is currently “no indication that a deal is close, or that Orioles owner Peter Angelos would give final approval to a trade of his team’s best player”, per Rosenthal’s report.

Rosenthal noted that the White Sox could part with either right-handed pitching prospect Michael Kopech or 2017 call-up Lucas Giolito but are reluctant to part with both in any deal. Per the same report, Baltimore is seeking “two young, controllable starting pitchers” in any return for Machado.

The White Sox, New York YankeesBoston Red SoxSan Francisco Giants and the St. Louis Cardinals have all expressed interest in Machado.
