Blue Jays, Josh Donaldson Agree To $23M Deal

The Toronto Blue Jays and third baseman Josh Donaldson agreed on a one-year deal for $23 million, according to ESPN’s Jerry Crasnick.

The deal broke the record for the highest salary among players eligible for arbitration which was was set when Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper agreed to a one-year deal for $21.625 million.

Donaldson bounced back from an injury-plagued 2016 campaign to have a solid campaign, hitting .270 with 33 homers and 78 RBIs.

Donaldson will be eligible for free agency after the 2018 season.
