Padres’ Wil Myers Steals 3 Bases In One Inning

Published

on

Wil Myers had himself a night on the bases last night against the Philadelphia Phillies.

The San Diego Padres 1st baseman stole first, second and third in the same inning becoming the first player to do so since Miami Marlins’ Dee Gordon accomplished the feat in 2011.

Myers also became the first Padre ever to do so .

“When I was on first base after my walk in the first inning, I noticed on the first pitch he was real slow,” Myers said (h/t ESPN).

“I took a chance of going on that first pitch [in the fourth]. And once it got to 3-2 on second, and he hadn’t really paid attention to me, I thought it was a good opportunity to get one there. The last one was kind of a botched play that ended up working out.”

“I wasn’t really mixing up my holds, I guess, enough,” said Phillies pitcher Nick Pivetta.

“For the most part, they ran a little bit extra today, and that just was kind of the difference in the baseball game.”

Mets Shopping Noah Syndergaard

Published

The New York Mets will likely be big sellers at the deadline and it appears that they are shopping starter Noah Syndergaard.

According to Newsday’s Tim Healey, the Mets have discussed Syndergaard with around six teams, adding that there’s “minimal urgency” on the Mets’ part to trade Syndergaard.

Per the report, the Mets would need to be “wowed” in order to move Syndergaard.

Syndergaard, 26, isn’t having the kind of season he is accustomed to, pitching to the tune of a 4.68 ERA, and is posting other career-low numbers.
