The New York Yankees are looking for some big at bats and are hoping their lineup will hold up for the critical stretch run.

The Yanks placed first baseman Garrett Cooper on the 10-day disabled list Thursday with tendinitis in his left hamstring and promoted Tyler Austin from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Cooper, who was acquired from the Milwaukee Brewers, has been solid for the Bronx Bombers in his 13 games with the team, batting .326 with six RBIs.

Austin was in the lineup at first base as the Yankees completed their sweep of the New York Mets in the ‘Subway Series’ on Thursday.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi said that Cooper had informed the team his hamstring was bothering him after his 1st at-bat on Wednesday when he tried to beat out an RBI groundout.

Girardi said that Cooper’s MRI “came back pretty good.”

“He’s had some hamstring issues before,” Girardi said. “We don’t think it’ll be a long stint, but we figured we’d better DL him.”
