2017 National League Wild Card Game

Colorado Rockies (Jon Gray) @ Arizona Diamondbacks (Zack Greinke)

Wednesday, October 4, 2017- Chase Field

8:00 PM ET- TBS

Two division rivals, one ballpark, and one trip to the National League Division Series on the line.

This is why we love baseball.

Tonight at 8 PM, the Arizona Diamondbacks (93-69) host the Colorado Rockies (87-75) in the National League Wild Card game on TBS. In the regular season, Arizona had the better head-to-head record at 11-8.

For the visiting Rockies, righty Jon Gray gets the nod for his first career playoff game. In 20 starts this season, Gray compiled a 10-4 record and 3.67 ERA across 110 1/3 innings pitched. He also went 2-0 at Chase Field in two starts (10 strikeouts in each game).

Opposing Gray will be fellow right-hander Zack Greinke, who went 17-7 with a 3.20 ERA in 32 starts across 202 1/3 innings for the Diamondbacks this season. In five starts against the Rockies this year, Greinke’s 2-1 with a 3.41 ERA.

In nine career playoff games (and starts), Greinke’s 3-3 with a 3.55 ERA, although that mark in his last six appearances (since 2013) is 2.38.

Tonight’s game marks the first playoff game for both teams in a while—2009 for the Rockies, and 2011 for the Diamondbacks.

And when it’s all said and done, one unlucky team will pack their bags for the off-season and watch the rest of the playoffs from home.

Here we go!
