Dodgers Exercise Option On Infielder Logan Forsythe

Published

on

As announced on Monday afternoon, the Los Angeles Dodgers have exercised their 2018 option on second baseman Logan Forysthe.

According to MLB.com, the option is for $8.5 million.

Forsythe, 30, struggled mightily for the Dodgers in 2017, hitting .224/.351/.327 in 361 at-bats. He picked it up in the playoffs though, hitting .297 (11 for 37) with six RBIs and nine runs scored.

Los Angeles acquired Forsythe from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for right-handed pitcher Jose De Leon in January of this year.

Had the Dodgers not picked up Forsythe’s option, they would’ve owed him a $1 buyout.

In seven Major League seasons since 2011, Forsythe is a career .250/.330/.385 hitter. He spent three seasons each with the San Diego Padres and Tampa Bay Rays before coming becoming a Dodger in 2017.
