Published

‘Tis the season for giving; and Texas Rangers southpaw Cole Hamels recently went above and beyond in that department.

Last Monday, multiple outlets reported that Hamels and his wife Heidi had donated their mega-mansion in Branson, Missouri, to charity; more specifically, Camp Barnabas.

The estimated worth of the mansion has varied among sources between $9.4 to $10 million.

Hamels, the 12-year Major League veteran who turns 34 on Wednesday, explained why he chose to donate his mansion to Camp Barnabas, per SBNation:

“There are tons of amazing charities in Southwest Missouri. Out of all of these, Barnabas really pulled on our heartstrings. Seeing the faces, hearing the laughter, reading the stories of the kids they serve; there is truly nothing like it. Barnabas makes dreams come true, and we felt called to help them in a big way.”

The non-profit Camp Barnabas is “a unique ministry providing Christian camping experiences to people with special needs and chronic illnesses, along with their siblings”, while providing “ministry and social experiences that increase spiritual knowledge, social learning, and human dignity.”

Hamels is entering the final year of his six-year, $144 million contract he signed with the Philadelphia Phillies during the 2012 season, and his third full season with Texas (was traded from Philadelphia mid-2015).

Overall, this is an enormously generous gesture by Hamels and his wife. NBCSports reports that the pair will relocate to the Dallas, Texas area, where Heidi’s originally from.

Merry (late) Christmas, and Happy New Year!

Yankees “Open To Moving” Miguel Andujar

Published

on

The New York Yankees have a future superstar in Miguel Andujar, a fan favorite, yet they have been constantly linked to rumors of being open to dealing him, despite his huge rookie season.

This one, just doesn’t make much sense if the plan is to move Andujar to make room for the likes of Manny Machado.

According to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal and Robert Murray, the Yankees are “open to moving” Andjuar via trade, but there is no clear trade path to reference at this time.

This development clearly shows the Yankees desire to sign Machado to a free agent deal.

The Yankees and Mets have also been linked in a potential deal that could see Noah Syndergaard end up in New York, with Andujar on his way out.
