The Minnesota Twins have agreed to a one-year deal with veteran left-handed pitcher Zach Duke.

The 34-year-old lefty and the Twins finalized a one-year contract on Tuesday. Last season, Duke was 1-1 with a 3.93 ERA in 27 relief appearances for the St. Louis Cardinals.

At the beginning of his career, Duke was a starting pitcher with the Pittsburgh Pirates. In six seasons with the Pirates, he was 45-70 with an ERA of 4.54 in 160 games played (159 starts). He has since had stints with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Washington Nationals, Cincinnati Reds, Milwaukee Brewers, Chicago White Sox and most recently the Cardinals. He has mainly been utilized as a relief pitcher since leaving Pittsburgh.

This is not the first move that the Twins have made this offseason to improve their bullpen. A couple of weeks ago, the team signed veteran closer Fernando Rodney to a one-year, $4.5 million contract.
