Reds Fire Manager Bryan Price

After a 3-15 start to the 2018 season, the Cincinnati Reds have fired manager Bryan Price who was in his 5th season with the team.

Additionally, pitching coach Mack Jenkins has been fired as well.

Bench coach Jim Riggleman was named Cincinnati’s interim manager and the Reds plan to conduct a search for a permanent manager “later in the year.”

“At this time, we felt a change needed to happen in order to begin the process of getting this team back on the right track. We realize it is early in the season but feel it is important to be proactive,” general manager Dick Williams said. “In addition to these staff changes, we will continue to examine all aspects of baseball operations to ensure we are doing everything we can to improve.”

Athletics Acquire Tanner Roark

The Oakland Athletics have acquired right hander Tanner Roark from the Cincinnati Reds, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal.

As part of the deal, outfielder Jamerson Hannah will be heading to Cincinnati, according to MLB Network’s Jon Heyman.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle’s Susan Slusser, the Reds will pick up $2.1 million of Roark’s remaining salary.

The Cincinnati Reds have acquired Rob Refsnyder from the Arizona Diamondbacks for a player to be named later, and cash, according to an official team announcement on Twitter.

Refsnyder will immediately report to Triple-A.

The Miami Marlins may be closing in on a deal to deal catcher J.T. Realmuto as several teams are considered to be in “advanced stages” in talks about a trade, according to MLB.com’s Joe Frisaro.

The report goes on to say that the Cincinnati Reds are in “substantive” talks with the Marlins.

Other teams linked to the deep talks are the San Diego Padres, Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Dodgers, and the Tampa Bay Rays.
