Cardinals Place Luke Gregerson On Disabled List, Carlos Martinez To Get MRI

The St. Louis Cardinals have placed right handed pitcher Luke Gregerson on the 10-day disabled list with a right shoulder impringement, according to a team announcement.

Gregerson’s spot on the active roster will be occupied by John Brebbia.

Cardinals starting pitcher Carlos Martinez, who has been out of action since May 10th, is going to undergo an MRI to further assess his shoulder injury, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s Derrick Goold.

Nationals to Sign Brian Dozier

The Washington Nationals continue their active offseason by agreeing to a one-year deal with free agent veteran second baseman Brian Dozier.

Dozier, 31, is a highly regarded infielder, but posted a .215/.305/.391 slash line last season splitting time between the Minnesota Twins and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Milwaukee Brewers have signed free agent catcher Yasmani Grandal to a one-year deal, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal.

Grandal had a standing four-year offer from the New York Mets, but opted to land in Milwaukee on a one-year pact.

While Grandal had a nightmare postseason, he still presents a much needed upgrade for the Brewers backstop depth.

Brewers Sign Jake Petricka

The Milwaukee Brewers have agreed to terms on a split, major league contract with free agent right hander Jake Petricka, according to The Athletic’s Robert Murray.

Petricka, 30, will hold a spot on the 40-man roster as part of the new deal, which is pending a physical.

Petricka pitched the to tune of a 4.53 ERA over 45 2/3 innings last season with the Toronto Blue Jays.
