Marlins Release Jacob Turner

The Miami Marlins have released right-hander Jacob Turner from their Triple-A affiliate, per the Pacific Coast Leagues’ transactions page.

Turner, 27, surrendered 10 runs in 5 2/3 innings over 4 game appearances for the Marlins this season, leading to the team outrighting him in April, where his struggles continued, posting a 5.82 ERA.

Marlins Sign Curtis Granderson

The Miami Marlins have signed veteran outfielder Curtis Granderson to a minor league deal that includes as Spring Training invitation, according to MLB Network’s Jon Heyman.

Per Heyman, Granderson will earn $1.75 million in the majors with a potential $250K in potential incentives.

Granderson, 37, may not be the outfielder he once was, but he can still produce at the plate.

Last season, Granderson posted a slash line of .242/.351/.431 with 13 homeruns playing for the Toronto Blue Jays and the Milwaukee Brewers.

Padres, Dodgers, Reds, Braves, Rays in “Advanced Stages” for Marlins’ J.T. Realmuto

The Miami Marlins may be closing in on a deal to deal catcher J.T. Realmuto as several teams are considered to be in “advanced stages” in talks about a trade, according to MLB.com’s Joe Frisaro.

The report goes on to say that the Cincinnati Reds are in “substantive” talks with the Marlins.

Other teams linked to the deep talks are the San Diego Padres, Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Dodgers, and the Tampa Bay Rays.

Marlins Sign Neil Walker

The Miami Marlins have signed veteran infielder Neil Walker to a one-year deal, according to an official team announcement.

Walker, who played for the New York Yankees last season, is expected to platoon at first base but will also see time around the infield in 2019, and will earn $2 million, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal.

Walker struggled in 2018, posting a .219/.309/.354 slash line for the Yankees, but came on at the end of the season.
