Braves Activate Ronald Acuna, Place Brandon McCarthy On DL

The Atlanta Braves have activated Ronald Acuna Jr. from the disabled list and have placed veteran righty Brandon McCarthy on the 10-day DL with tendinitis in his right knee.

Additionally, the Braves have optioned right hander Wes Parsons to Triple-A Gwinnett and recalled right hander Matt Wisler.

Acuna, 20, has been out of action since May 28 due to a knee contusion and a mild sprain of his left ACL.

McCarthy has been up-and-down this season, posting a 4.92 ERA.

Padres, Dodgers, Reds, Braves, Rays in “Advanced Stages” for Marlins’ J.T. Realmuto

The Miami Marlins may be closing in on a deal to deal catcher J.T. Realmuto as several teams are considered to be in “advanced stages” in talks about a trade, according to MLB.com’s Joe Frisaro.

The report goes on to say that the Cincinnati Reds are in “substantive” talks with the Marlins.

Other teams linked to the deep talks are the San Diego Padres, Atlanta Braves, Los Angeles Dodgers, and the Tampa Bay Rays.

Braves Re-Sign Nick Markakis

The Atlanta Braves have re-signed veteran outfielder Nick Markakis to a one year, $6 million deal, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal.

The new deal includes $4 million salary for 2019 and a $6 million club option, or a $2 million buyout for 2020, with $6 million guaranteed.

Markakis, 35, has spent the last four seasons with the Braves, and posted a .297 average with 14 homers and 93 RBIs.

Braves Sign Pedro Florimon

The Atlanta Braves have agreed to a minor-league pact with veteran infielder Pedro Florimon, according to Fancred’s Jon Heyman.

Florimon has been able to land on a major league roster over the past 8 seasons but hasn’t been able to consistently reach over 100 plate appearances, doing so only twice during that span. However, Florimon has been a solid infielder for depth during his career.
