Mets’ Activate David Wright for Final Homestand

New York Mets third baseman David Wright m who has not played in the majors since 2016 due to spinal stenosis along with neck and shoulder injuries, will be activated for the team’s final homestand of the season, according to MLB.com’s Anthony DiComo.

“Physically, the way I feel right now, and from what the docs told me, there’s not going to be any improvement, So I don’t see [playing full time again] as a possibility” Wright said during the new conference, according to the New York Post.

It’s unclear if retirement will be the next step for Wright, but his time with the Mets as an everyday again is over.

Nationals to Sign Brian Dozier

The Washington Nationals continue their active offseason by agreeing to a one-year deal with free agent veteran second baseman Brian Dozier.

Dozier, 31, is a highly regarded infielder, but posted a .215/.305/.391 slash line last season splitting time between the Minnesota Twins and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Milwaukee Brewers have signed free agent catcher Yasmani Grandal to a one-year deal, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal.

Grandal had a standing four-year offer from the New York Mets, but opted to land in Milwaukee on a one-year pact.

While Grandal had a nightmare postseason, he still presents a much needed upgrade for the Brewers backstop depth.

Brewers Sign Jake Petricka

The Milwaukee Brewers have agreed to terms on a split, major league contract with free agent right hander Jake Petricka, according to The Athletic’s Robert Murray.

Petricka, 30, will hold a spot on the 40-man roster as part of the new deal, which is pending a physical.

Petricka pitched the to tune of a 4.53 ERA over 45 2/3 innings last season with the Toronto Blue Jays.
