Angels name Brad Ausmus New Manager

Published

The Los Angeles Angles have found the successor to longtime skipper Mike Scioscia, as they have named Brad Ausmas, who has been serving as a special assistant to the team last season, as their new manager, according to a report from the Associated Press (h/t ESPN).

Angels’ General manager Billy Eppler made the official announcement, but contract terms were not disclosed.

Ausmus is set to be formally introduced during a news conference on Monday, and will have big shoes to fill as Scioscia held the job since the 2000 season, winning the Angels’ only World Series title and becoming the winningest manager in franchise history.

Scioscia left the club after 19 seasons earlier in October.

“Ultimately, Brad’s balance of connectivity, communication and leadership skills as well as his understanding of evolving strategies and probabilistic approach to decision-making led us to him,” Eppler said in a statement. “We believe his knowledge, drive and growth-mindset will allow him to integrate seamlessly with our players and staff and will be pivotal in advancing our culture and moving us toward our goals as an organization.”
