Marlins Sign Victor Victor Mesa, Victor Mesa Jr.

The Miami Marlins have formally announced the signing of the Mesa brothers, Victor Victor and Victor Jr., and will be streaming a press conference to introduce the brothers on their website and on Periscope.

Victor Victor is expected to receive a bonus in excess of $5.25 million while Victor Jr. received a $1 million bonus, according to MLB.com’s Jesse Sanchez.

Victor Victor, the son of Cuban baseball luminary Victor Mesa, was widely considered to be the most coveted amateur free agent on the International market at current, while his 17-year old brother boasts an above-average arm and plus contact ability with plenty of upside and potential.

Marlins Fire Hitting Coach Mike Pagliarulo

The Miami Marlins have announced that they have fired hitting coach Mike Pagliarulo, according to MLB.com’s Joe Frisaro.

Pagliarulo took the post ahead of the 2016 season after previously serving as a hitting coach in Triple-A.

Pagliarulo will be replaced by Jeff Livesey on an interim basis, and Eric Duncan will take the role of assistant hitting coach.

Marlins Release Dan Straily

The Miami Marlins have released right-hander Dan Straily, according to Marlins president of baseball operations Michael Hill (h/t MLB.com’s Joe Frisaro).

Straily will be going on release waivers and is he clears, he will his free agency Wednesday afternoon.

Straily, 30, pitched the tune of a 4.20 ERA last season for the Marlins.

Marlins Sign Curtis Granderson

The Miami Marlins have signed veteran outfielder Curtis Granderson to a minor league deal that includes as Spring Training invitation, according to MLB Network’s Jon Heyman.

Per Heyman, Granderson will earn $1.75 million in the majors with a potential $250K in potential incentives.

Granderson, 37, may not be the outfielder he once was, but he can still produce at the plate.

Last season, Granderson posted a slash line of .242/.351/.431 with 13 homeruns playing for the Toronto Blue Jays and the Milwaukee Brewers.
