Cardinals’ Marcell Ozuna Undergoes Shoulder Procedure

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Marcell Ozuna recently underwent a “clean up” procedure on his right shoulder performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache, according to Sirius XM’s Craig Mish.

Ozuna’s ailing shoulder hindered him during the 2018 season and he could not replicate the career-year he had in 2017 with the Miami Marlins. Ozuna posted a slash line of .280/.325/.433 to go along with 23 homeruns in 2018 for the Cardinals.

The St. Louis Cardinals have shut down right hander Carlos Martinez from throwing for two weeks as the club believes that he needs to build up his shoulder strength, according to MLB.com’s Jenifer Langosch.

The development hangs a cloud of uncertainty over Martinez’s availability for Opening Day.

The Cardinals may be looking to utilize Martinez out of the bullpen this season.

Brewers Re-Sign Mike Moustakas

The Milwaukee Brewers have officially re-signed third baseman Mike Moustakas to a one-year deal, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal.

According to USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, the deal will earn Moustakas $10 million and includes a $3 million buyout along with a $11 million mutual option for 2020.

Bryce Harper ‘Unsure’ About Signing with Phillies

Following the breaking news that Manny Machado had agreed to terms on a massive 10-year, $300 million deal with the San Diego Padres, the next superstar domino expected to fall is Bryce Harper.

Multiple reports are linking Harper with the Philadelphia Phillies, who are apparently willing to pay Harper’s lofty price tag demand, but it’s not a “slam dunk” that Harper lands in Philly.

According to SNY’s Andy Martino, Harper is “unsure” about signing with the Phillies.

This echos a December report from the New York Post’s Joel Sherman, one that says Harper wasn’t “particularly” fond of playing in Philadelphia.

Harper to the Phillies may not be the slam dunk that reports indicate, which means a mystery team may be luring Harper in.
