Bryce Harper Not Interest in Short Team Deal

Published

on

When it comes to the market for free agent superstar Bryce Harper, teams won’t be able to bring him in on a short-term, lucrative contract.

Harper isn’t interested.

According to MLB Network’s Jon Heyman, Harper is not “even considering” a short-term deal, even as the market for he and Manny Machado continues to stay in a holding pattern.

There has been chatter that neither superstar will fetch the $300 million deals that they had been seeking.

According to USA Today’s Bob Nigtengale, the San Francisco Giants have plans on offering “a lucrative short-term deal” but did not want “to provide a long-term contract approaching the 10-year, $300 million contract Harper rejected from the Washington Nationals in September.”

Harper has been linked to a number of teams, so it’s unclear where he will land, and he still could return to the Washington Nationals.

However, I think that the New York Yankees, despite their public comments otherwise, may come in during the final minutes to scoop up Harper.
