Brewers’ Gio Gonzalez Suffers Setback

Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Gio Gonzalez has suffered a setback during a recent bullpen session, according to MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy.

Gonzalez, who landed on the injured list back on June 1st due to a dead arm, felt soreness during a bullpens session and isn’t expected to return until after the All-Star break.

Gonzalez, 33, joined the Brewers in late April.

The New York Mets are leaving no stone unturned as they continue their search for their next manager.

According to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, Milwaukee Brewers bench coach Pat Murphy has had multiple interviews for the Mets’ managerial job and is considered to be in the mix.

Murphy, 60, has served as bench coach since the 2016 season following a six-year run as the Padres minor-league manager. Murphy also served as the interim manager for the Padres’ major league team for 96 games in 2015.

The Milwaukee Brewers have acquired right hander Ray Black and lefty Drew Pomeranz.

According to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, Milwaukee landed Pomeranz from the San Francisco Giants in exchange for prospect Mauricio Dubon.

Dubon is considered to be major league ready, so this is a good return for the Giants.

Brewers Discussing Trade for Will Smith

The Milwaukee Brewers and San Francisco Giants have been in talks regarding a trade that would send left hander Will Smith back the Brewers, according to The Athletic’s Robert Murray.

Per the report, the Giants are interested in second base prospect Mauricio Dubon.

Smith has had a solid season in 2019, pitching to an impressive 2.17 ERA.

No deal is close as of this writing.
